IBS Fellows have shown an outstanding dedication to the business support sector, the Institute or business generally. Applications are subject to professional interview. This attracts the post nominal of MIBSF

The IBS welcomes applications from not-for-profits, charities, academic and educational organisations, and commercial businesses. The values of all applying organisations must align to those of the Institute or be adopted as a statement on joining. Employees or members of organisations are eligible to join at a reduced rate and must agree and abide by the Institutes Professional Code of Conduct.

Individual applicants complete an online application. The vetting process includes due diligence checks, payment of joining and membership fee and agreeing to abide by the Professional Code of Conduct Business Support.
Organisation applicants undergo a series of due diligence checks including integrity, financial, director standing and so on. They also have to evidence how they recruit members and professionals and how they support them.
Organisational members have access to the independently assessed IBS Quality Mark to support their programmes.
